Shiny things!

I have been so distracted the last few weeks I forgot to show off my copy of Blue Rose!

Also, my kitty, Chiyo!

This is one of the few Kickstarters I’ve backed in the last couple of years, and I’m so happy with it. If you haven’t heard of it, Blue Rose is an RPG based on the romantic fantasy genre (think Mercedes Lackey or Anne McCaffrey). In general it focuses more on social interactions and problem solving, with lots of magic, animal companions, and usually odd idealistic social structures.

I’m a big fan of the Heralds of Valdemar series by Lackey, been reading them since I was 9 years old, so Blue Rose was intriguing since I first found out about it, but the first edition was a d20 game and I quickly fell out of love with the system. This new edition uses Green Ronin’s Fantasy AGE system, which feels much more streamlined and facilitates some of the roleplay aspects of the setting that I’m keen on, while not completely losing the bit of crunch to make the more mechanical aspects interesting.

I bought the book and the GM screen and both are lovely. The book is beautiful, this is the special edition from the KS, and it gold edged pages. The GM screen is nice and sturdy and it has all the mechanical details at hand. It also came with a few durable sheets with the options for the Stunt dice.

My plan is to use this to run a Heralds campaign, so I won’t be using the default setting, but the setting built in is pretty interesting, and because of the way it’s been built it lends itself to many different kinds of adventures.

…I’m not totally sure if this post is particularly useful, but I just wanted to brag, cuz I love that I finally have this in my hands. I might post better pics later.

Wind to thy wings,
Carlos
